LEONIE.

September 28, 2024 by Joshua Massop in art, artist, colors, creatives, creators, miami, painting, murals, phoneroma, spirituality, angels, hydromancy, astral, cosmic, mediumship, architecture, 9/11, Kennedy Center

This here is a 3ft (36in) by 4ft (48in) mixed media painting on canvas entitled LEONIE.

Named so in dedication to her memory, she was the most awesomest grandmother ever. The skills she and my grandfather have taught me throughout the both of their existence is uncomparable to anything else in my time here on this planet. Grandparents are amazing and of course we wouldn’t be here without them.

Family photo of my grandmother talking with her grandchildren.

LEONIE features an array of blue hues, in it the four fixed signs of the Zodiac Astrology which are Aquarius (Air), Leo (Fire), Taurus (Earth), and Scorpio (Water), along with The Twin Towers, The Empire State Building including the Zaha Hadid masterpiece the Scorpion Tower. It also features Black Mamba, some Angels above a very important discussion, some birds, the arduous New York City train ride, furthermore another angel in the center guiding a young man’s Mind and Heart together during the journey of ones ascension.

The moral of the painting what I was meaning to convey in it is, to follow your dreams and believe. The four birds represent a stability alongside the four fixed signs to master your elements and energy, when all added together it reaches a total of eight which brings a balance of the spiritual and material worlds.

It is this happiness I was hoping to bring in this piece of art, hoping that everyone can see this truth in all of its mystery, the seen and the unseen, the passionate fire, moreover the emotional tides that rumble inside of us all on this earthly 3Dimensional plane.

Took me just a little time to post this yet better late than never. I was looking at television the other night and it was The Kennedy Center Honors cover performance of Heart singing Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin, an amazing performance I might add the vocals were on point and honestly brought you there.

There was just something that resonated with me internally that helped me align my mind with my heart and made me think of this painting, possibly a paradigm shift or accoustic awakening either way Im guessing this is My Stairway to Heaven.

This one is for you Leonie Massop (and Grandfather) including all of the other great people we have lost in the physical that are so forth present today. View the Vimeo here.

Catch you all on the next one.

Summertime ’21

September 22, 2021 by Joshua Massop in clothing, art, apparel, activewear, colors, fashion, hybrid, phoneroma, school

Welcome back to another blog post. This one is going to focus on the summer of 2021. It was cool nothing crazy coming off of the post Coro-No scene and getting back to the real swing of things, here are four (4) of my five (5) most recent shirts I have been cutting down since June locked up in the crib giving myself unbelievable self care and healing amidst other activities. Whether it was altering, tailoring, or assembling, sewing has been a form of release allowing me to literally weave my dreams into reality, I have some small descriptions and pics below of the hybrids that raise the necessity to unveil these illusory garments to you all.

The red sark shown below is called Independence. The first of the collection, is weaved from a Cotton Poly blend while the yoke, inner collar stand, and pocket is made from rayon making it possible to exhaust heat in the areas it matters most in our aim to keep you cool confident and collected while you are lounging, in your daily routine, or attending a dinner event. It features a rayon floral pocket on the left breast to hold any cash or cards to keep your pockets designated for the heavier items such as keys or pocket change, recommended washing instructions include using a delicate laundry cycle or dry cleaning. Warm iron if necessary.

20210711_152153.jpg 20210711_152220.jpg 20210711_152302_HDR.jpg 20210711_152317.jpg 20210711_152544.jpg 20210904_090914.jpg 20210904_090921.jpg 20210904_090947.jpg 20210904_091005.jpg 20210904_091035.jpg 20210904_091054.jpg

The gray top with the red windowpane is called Cali Cooler. It is made from up-cycled vintage wool while the yoke, left breast pocket, and outer collar stand is made with satin. The vintage wool makes it breathable in any climate as the breeze passes through keeping your body temperature ambient to its surroundings. It features a left breast pocket along with hidden inner sleeve bands revealing matching floral satin print exposing the epidermis, increasing versatility and comfort it’s construction and appearance is paramount in its application.

20210830_121611_Burst01.jpg 20210830_121649.jpg 20210830_121704.jpg 20210830_121741_HDR.jpg 20210830_121750.jpg 20210830_121755.jpg 20210830_121813.jpg 20210830_121902.jpg

The third in this collection is called Paco Vegas. The burgundy textile is made from 100% cotton along with the Carolina Blue embroidered eyelets found on sleeves, back of garment, breast pocket, and inner collar stand. The eyelets on back and sleeves combined reduce an exponential amount of heat and perspiration where it is created stopping it before it starts keeping your body temperature regulated from start to finish giving you maximum freshness. It features a left front breast pocket for weightless item such as currency or receipts furthermore a cranberry banding on sleeves. The cranberry hue on front left and right, collar, and outer collar stand were chosen to bring up the hue of the skin tone much more, as per if you notice the Carolina blue brings the skin tone down.

No.4 in the collection is called just that, No.4. It has no connection to any trilogies or characters portrayed on television, this piece embodies everything the no 4 stands for which is usually a reflection of our passions and aspirations. The space print on front, collar, inner collar stand are made from 100% cotton while the purple embroidered jacquard looking fabric on back, under collar and left breast pocket are also cotton, amazing feel and design the button holes are sky blue and buttons are sewn with a lilac thread to transition the darker hues on print. Recommended washing instructions include a delicate washing cycle. Warm iron if necessary. I will post these pics as soon as possible.

Monopoly is made from 100% cotton throughout, blue floral pattern on front, back, hidden pocket on left front breast, no buttons on collar while sleeves, yoke and outer collar stands resemble money in the air giving this tunic its extraordinary flair. This top also features hidden sleeve bands in the same floral print as collar and front panels. All of these items are extremely limited as these shown are all one of one.

Phoneroma REEL Grecian Crewneck Jumper.

February 20, 2021 by Joshua Massop in fashion, art, colors, hybrid, clothing, apparel, activewear, phoneroma

This is the Grecian Crew Jumper, inspired by ancient Greek fashion in resemblance to the tunics they wore back around 2000BC, this lovely hybrid comes in two different colors as seen in white and also in black. Above, the front panel is attached by snap buttons providing super breathability no matter what climate you are in, this top you can wear on a cool night by the beach or to a night on the town with friends.

The concept (pictured) was constructed of 90% Cotton/10% Polyester. 100% Cotton is ideal to accommodate any excessive perspiration along with limit any bacteria in textile after prolonged use, usually made from wool or silk in the older days in which the wool was spun very finely so that garments were thinner than modern wool. These Grecian jumpers provide style and sophistication to the wearer engulfing them in euphoric feel good endorphins, producing confidence internally as a byproduct.

Phoneroma REEL Grecian Jumper in black colorway, features vertical incisions on sleeves and consists of only six snap buttons, three on each side for maximum temperature regulation.

Phoneroma REEL Grecian Jumper in black colorway, features vertical incisions on sleeves and consists of only six snap buttons, three on each side for maximum temperature regulation.

The Grecian Jumper is entirely unisex and both colorways can be sported by both men and women varying time of day or climate, hence the vertical incisions on the sleeves as well as the detachable alternating front panels. Although most tunics tend to cover the waist this one stops above waistline due to application and textiles used, integrating both modern style with classical style we created this highly illusory hybrid for both male and female genders.

As mentioned in the first video we accidentally botched the front panel, the original panel we colored implementing botanical dyes yet during the process we failed to incorporate a suitable drying procedure which made our panel come out a little short of what we expected. I put some photos of the end result below and you can leave some feedback and let me know if it was up to par or nah, since the aim was to reflect a fuchsia hue a slight change of value from what you see below.

20210211_145853~2.jpg 20210211_133927.jpg 20210211_134006.jpg 20210211_133828.jpg 20210219_164519.jpg 20210219_164540.jpg 20210219_164404_HDR.jpg 20210219_164447.jpg

The slides are some photos highlighting the result of the dying process of the main front fleece panel featuring a gold REEL graphic in relation to the white colorway including stitching details, the brown line down the center of top was the outcome of the drying process as these pigments were the few to remain in the fibers. The snap buttons used to attach garment in both black and white colorways were engraved by hand adding to it value.

As far as the field tests are concerned, the white colorway is amazing for the cool nights, and the black colorway is suited more for the humid evening where less contact between the epidermis and the textile is desired, making both a must have to anyone’s wardrobe regardless whether older or younger. Honestly, this garment just feels different in all of its entirety creating a different sensation both internal and external due to its aesthetics and details in design.

Below are short introductory videos of both the white and black colorways of the Phoneroma REEL Grecian Hybrid Jumper posted to the video hosting platform Vimeo, all shot, directed, and edited inhouse by Yoshi Industries.

Art Basel 2018

January 20, 2019 by Joshua Massop in art, painting, murals, colorful, miami, wynwood

If it was hard to find me the weekend of Friday, Dec. 07th to Sunday, Dec.09th I took a slight day-cation and headed to Art Basel 2018 located in Miami, Florida in the Wynwood section, along with South Beach also hosting some of the worlds best artists and designers. Rumor has it that it was a little weak in the past couple of years focusing on Music and Dance, yet this year they brought it back to The Graffiti, The Paintings, as well as the Murals giving total control back to the Artists, Creators, furthermore Designers.

I stayed a couple of days in the Wynwood contrella not far from Little Haiti and enjoyed the scenery, along with captivating artwork, beautiful faces, not to mention the amazing 80 degree weather which was reminiscent of Summer in NY in 95’. Why Summer of 95’? Not 100 percent sure but it definitely brought back a nostalgic childhood feel back to mind, somewhat careless, a feeling of paradise maybe, but it was great to get away and out of the box.

I bumped into a couple of heads from New York and met a bunch of other people from all over, one crew to definitely mention is the Cake team, using contemporary murals, sculpture, avant-garde sound design, CAKE created a multi-sensational experience in the heart of Wynwood. The Crown Collection was also showcased, a private jewelry lounge within the space that showcased intricate, one-of-a-kind works with rare gems and meticulously-engraved luxury timepieces. CAKE clearly created a truly immersive, interdisciplinary encounter for their guests to experience during the Basel 2018 weekend.

I stopped by a couple more places getting Lost in the Sauce having it being my first trip to Miami and the State of Florida EVER! My journey took me from about Miami Ave. and NW29th wrapped back around to 2nd and 22nd. by Wynwood Walls where I was able to check out Sue Tsai’s Exhibit, “Summary of my heART. It was a dope experience stopping by supporting the young New York native not to mention sticking around to recreate one of my favorite pieces by the artist. I always find a way to miss her exhibit when in the City although usually informed something ALWAYS comes up within that period.

I didn’t get a chance to migrate over to South Beach where all of the A-Listers such as KAWS were partying but I was hugely content being in the Wynwood district where the majority of the culture was based including the up and coming artists were . It felt much more original, and authentic, moreover genuine in these part on the mainland rather than on the beach.

I want to extend a HUGE SHOUT and Thank You, to The Sate of Florida, The City of Miami, not mention Dade County which hosted the event, including a Big Shoutout to the Big Homie Zabo for real on deck feeding the hood with the $7 Fish and Chips, also the little homies on the motor bikes tearing it up (tag me in your Gram wit dem Meek FREED Tees). Definitely a warm welcome and made me feel right at home. Hope to splash out again next December and do it all over again. Shout DECK, TEXER, and BLAZE. Peace King!

IMG_20181208_234342.jpg

There are plenty more people to shout along with videos I planned to share yet keep an eye out to my other channels for that material while I get the chance to edit, 2018 has tooken me for a wild ride and I know it is only going to get better transitioning into The 2019 New Year. Stay Tuned everybody and Thanks to everyone for their undaunted support for Yoshi Industries/Phoneroma Brand. Peace.
